يمكن إجراء عملية تحويل العملات بشكل يدوي، وذلك من خلال معرفة قيمة العملة الأجنبية المراد التحويل إليها، ثم يتم حساب قيمة المبلغ عن طريق معادلة رياضية بسيطة، يتم فيها ضرب قيمة المبلغ المراد تحويله في قيمة العملة الأخرى، على النحو التالي:

في حالة الرغبة في حساب قيمة تحويل مبلغ ألف دولار أمريكي إلى عملة الدينار الأردني، مع العلم أن قيمة الدولار الأمريكي الواحد يساوي 1.41 دينار أردني، فيتم حساب تحويل العملات على النحو التالي:
المبلغ بعملة الدينار الكويتي = قيمة المبلغ بالدولار * سعر صرف الدولار بالدينار الكويتي.
المبلغ بعملة الدينار الكويتي = 1000 دولار * 28 دينار/ دولار = 3,28 دينار كويتي.
إذن ألف دولار أمريكي = 3,280 دينار كويتي.
في حالة الرغبة في حساب تحويل ألف ريال سعودي إلى عملة الدولار الأمريكي، مع العلم أن الدولار الأمريكي الواحد يساوي 0.27 دولار أمريكي، فيتم حساب تحويل العملات على النحو التالي:
المبلغ بالدولار الأمريكي= قيمة المبلغ بالريال السعودي * سعر صرف الدولار بالريال السعودي.
المبلغ بالدولار الأمريكي= ألف ريال سعودي * 27 دولار/ ريال سعودي= 270 دولار أمريكي.
إذا فإن ألف ريال سعودي = 270 دولار أمريكي.
