Titre: Need honest advice – is a used Ghibli as scary as people say?
Posté par: rapidBolts le Mai 25, 2026, 05:55:31 am
I know Maserati gets a ton of hate online for reliability, but I found a 2018 Ghibli S for a price that almost seems too good to be true, and honestly it looks and sounds amazing. The seller is in Dubai Silicon Oasis, says it's a GCC spec car with full service history, and he seems like a genuine guy. But I've read so many forum posts about timing chain issues, oil leaks from the turbo lines, and electrical problems that leave the car dead in the water. I'm not rich by any means, so if I buy this car and something major breaks in the first year, I'm in trouble. I was looking around to see what a proper inspection actually covers for these Italian cars, and I found a maserati car inspection service dubai (https://prepurchasecarinspection.ae/brands/maserati/) that claims to check for things like wastegate rattle on the turbos, rear subframe corrosion, and even testing the clutch wear on the ZF transmission. Has anyone here actually used a dedicated pre purchase inspection on a used Maserati in the UAE? I'm trying to figure out if it's worth paying for a specialist or if I should just trust the service history and the PPI from a general garage. Part of me feels like if the car has survived this long without major issues, maybe it's fine. But the other part of me is terrified that I'll be that guy who buys a Maserati and then can't afford to fix it. Any real world advice from owners in Dubai or Abu Dhabi would be massively appreciated.
