Forecasters at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration have updated their predictions for the Atlantic hurricane season, announcing on Wednesday that at least 14 and as many as 21 named storms could materialize before the year is up. At least six and as many as 11 of those storms may become hurricanes, the agency said. The Atlantic hurricane season occurs annually, beginning each year on June 1 and ending on Nov. 30. Climate officials released their initial hurricane outlook just befo stanley cup re this season began, and suggested at the time that it would be  near normal,  bringing somewhere between 12 and 17 named storms and five to nine hurricanes. An updated outlook released this week by NOAA has amended that original forecast to predict an  above normal  hurricane season, owing to the shift earlier this year from La Nintilde;a to El Nintilde;o as well as record-high sea surface temperatures in part stanley cup s of the Atlantic Ocean th stanley cup is summer. Warmer ocean temperatures came as massive heat waves on land touched vast sections of the world, from the United States to Europe and beyond, fueling concerns about the effects of climate change on contemporary weather patterns while setting their own records, too.                A GOES-16  GOES East  visible satellite image of Hurricane Don at 6:20 8239;PM EDT on July 22, 2023 in the Atlantic.  Mandatory water restrictions went into effect this week across California, where the governor hopes to see water usage drop by an average of 25 percent. As CBS News correspondent David Begnaud reports, one industry has found itself squarely in the cross-hairs of the new crackdown.Backyard swimming pools have been part of the lifestyle in California for decades, but as the drought approaches its fourth year there are more and more empty pools dotting the parched landscape. Some Californians are even having them filled in. Now, representatives from the state s $5 billion pool industry are fight back against what they say is an unfair characterization as wat air max 1 er-wasters.                                        Barrie Fisher built her swimmi adidas campus ng pool in the backyard of her Costa Mesa home almost two decades ago. Now, after years sitting idle, the pool is a reminder of the water crisis facing the state, and it s being filled in.  This was the 1950s American dream,  Fisher said. The drought has convinced her it s time to change the look of that dream.         We were to the point of having to replace all the equipment, re-plaster the pool,  Fisher said.  And with the drought, I d almost feel guilty, having all the work done, the equipment replaced. She hired Steve Espenschied, whose company Kenna Construction fills in and demolishes swimm yeezy ing pools.  We used to only do maybe only one pool a year in the last 20 years,  Espenschied said.  And then it eventually got to where it is now; about
