The municipality would also consult with Tourism Barrie, Barrie Colts, Canadian Hockey League, Skate Canada and Curling Canada officials to ensure an addition would help the city meet requirements to host provincial, national and international competitions.An arena expansion may cost between $8 million to 10 million, though Coun. Gary Harvey, who is introducing the plan, hopes about 50 per cent would be covered by the grant.
