Freedom Group, which recently declared bankruptcy and has been broken up for sale, made a secret deal with Call of Dutys publishers to stick the Adaptive Combat Rifle, AKA, the ACR, in the 2009 smash hit, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal Monday. It was just one example from a series of memos from the late 2000s and early 2010s detailing how Freedom Group, Remingtons then-parent company, repeatedly tried to promote its guns to a younger audienc stanley flask e.     Activision Blizzard and Remington reportedly didnt exchange any money in the deal, and who got what from the deal was kept confidential. Still, the gun was featured heavily in some of the games most popular levels, such as  Cliffhanger.  The gunmakers execs were, of course, over the moon that MW2 sold 2 stanley cup 2 million units by 2013. The ACR also appeared in the China-centric Call of Duty Online in 2012. Gizmodo reached out to Activision for comment, but we did not hear back. Thats just one example taken f stanley mug rom a swathe of documents obtained thanks to a lawsuit filed against the company by the parents of children killed in the 2013 Sandy Hook school shooting. The AR-15 used by the shooter was crafted by Remington. The parents received a $73 million settlement from Remington late last year.  In Syfys next brand new show, Hunters, an FBI agent joins a special government division that fights against the worst kind of terrorists of all: aliens. And they may have taken his wife captive. This new trailer, shown today at the Television Critics Association, really hits the  War on Terror  themes hard.     Were excited for Hunters because of the talent behind it. Based on the Alien Hunter books by Whitley Streiber, the show is produced by Gale Ann Hurd  Terminator, The Walking Dead  and written by Natalie Chaidez  12 Monkeys . But its a little worrying to see quite how on-the-nose the shows themes about terrorism are going to be. The aliens look like termo stanley  us, they live among us, and they can strike at any time鈥攕o  Im guessing  extreme measures are required. Meanwhile botella stanley , FBI agent  Flynn  Carroll  Nathan Phillips  gets paired up with another anti-terrorism agent, Regan  Britne Oldford  8230; who turns out to be a secret alien herself.  Its right there in the trailer above.  Television has,  stanley cup shall we say, a mixed record when it comes to trying to comment on terrorism and the lengths that we go to, to fight against it. For every show that has had interesting things to say  like BSG when it was good , there have been many that stumbled. So lets hope that, since Hunters appears to be tackling the issue head on during an election year, they actually know what theyre doing.  Charlie Jane Anders is the author of All The Birds in the Sky, coming Jan 26 from Tor Books.
