 Brittney Griner wants her followers to write Paul Whelan, who remains detained in Russia. Griner posted a handwritten l stanley cup etter on Instagram on Wednesday. It details how much letters meant during while she spent nearly 10 months in a Russian prison. The WNBA asked her followers to join her in advocating for the release of other Americans who were wrongly detained. She also provided an address where people can send letters to Whelan.The former Marine has been detained in Russia for four years. He was sentenced in 2020 on espionage charges, which he calls baseless.Griner was released this month in a prisoner swap with Russia.  Areas south of Milwaukee were hit the hardest as the first winter snowstorm of the new year pummeled on Saturday afternoon through the evening. The snow came down hard in places like Kenosha and Racine making for treacherous conditions on the roads. Whiteout scenes and low visibility led to several crashes along I-94 in Kenosha County during the day.At one point Saturday afternoon all southbound lanes near Pleasant Prairie were shut down for nearly two hours according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Steven Sisavath,  was visiting from Florida of all places pulled over to take a break when conditions were at their worst.
