 Mirror by South Carolina-based artist Kirsten Moran will open Friday, June 17 in the Beverley Street Studio School Gallery at 22 West Beverley Street.The opening is from 5:30 鈥?7:30pm with an artists talk at 6:00pm. The event is free and open to the public. The exhibit runs through Sunday, August 7.Moran received her MFA in painting from Savannah College of Art and Design and her BFA in painting and BA in cinema from Binghamton University. Morans paintings intuitively explore the history of girls and women from the corporeal, environmental, and psychological perspectives.Recent solo exhibitions include Ruin at Fahm Hall Gallery in Savannah, GA and Evocation at Atelier Gallery in Charleston, SC. Recent group shows include Between Clock and Bed at Yale Divinity School in New Haven, CT. Moran lives and works in Charleston, SC where she teaches at the College of Charleston.The exhibition, Mirror, s stanley quencher peaks to the tension inherent in familial rela termo stanley tionships, but also between the viewer and their perceptions of the work. Each painting conveys an aspect of the feminine psyche: mother, queen, warrior, lover, seeker, and more.
