China s Beijing Polybona has come on board as co-producer on Huilu, the Chinese-language version ofHong Kong-based Bigfoot Entertainment s psychological thriller Irreversi. The move qualifies the filmas a Hong Kong-China co-production, thus making it eligible for release inmainland China. Huilu wasshot in Hong Kong almost back-to-back with the English-language Irreversi, the directorial debut ofBigfoot founder Michael Gleissner.  Shooting a film in duallanguages allows us g stanley cup reater opportunities for sales,  says Kacy Andrews,Bigfoot CEO and a producer of the two films.  Instead of dubbing or subtitlinga film and selling it as a foreign-language film stanley cup , we can now sell it as adomestic f stanley cup ilm in two territories. Audiences can also watch both versions to seehow different casting and cultural differences can affect the outcome of a filmusing the same storyline. Polybona CEO Yu Dong nowserves as executive producer along with Gleissner for the Chinese version whichis set to open in the second quarter of next year in China through Polybona. Bigfoot will start sellingthe two films at Pusan s Asian Film Market next week. Both pictures arecurrently in post-production at Bigfoot facilities in Cebu in the Philippines.  Granada Film, the UK operation behind Ghost World, Bloody Sunday, The Gathering and Mira Nair s upcoming Vanity Fair adaptation, is being axed. The move means that none of the major ITV commercial broadcasters in the UK have a permanent film ope stanley us ration, despite announcements that the service would spend $155m  拢100m  on UK production. The closure comes hard on the heels of Channel 4 s scaling back of FilmFour. While the closure means the end of another source of development cash in the UK, some existing projects may be saved. Granada s Pippa Cross and Jeanette Day are to set up their own production company and expect to work with Granada on upcoming productions such as Vanity Fair, which i stanley cup s set up with Focus Features  formerly Good Machine , and All American Man. Sales chief Penny Wolf may join the new company.Granada is citing the advertising downturn as the reason behind the move. Although run on a tight budget - the operation employed 10 people - Granada Film is understood to have lost a small amount of money. Granada is understood to want to focus on core businesses.Ironically, th stanley us e film operation has recently enjoyed a run of success, earning critical kudos with Bloody Sunday, House Of Mirth and Ghost World. The operation has high hopes for Miramax Films  upcoming release of The Gathering, a horror starring Christina Ricci and Granada s biggest budget film to date.           No comments                                                     No comments yet
