I've been going back and forth in my head for the past week about whether to stick with a conventional flooded battery or spend the extra cash on an AGM for my Pajero. I do a fair bit of desert driving on weekends, nothing too extreme, just some dune bashing and camping trips out near Al Qudra, so I like the idea of something more durable that can handle the vibrations and deep discharges from running a fridge and lights when I'm parked up. But then I talk to my cousin who's been off-roading for years and he says it's a waste of money unless you've got a luxury car with start-stop technology, which I definitely don't have. I've been reading through some guides online trying to make sense of the technical differences and what actually matters for someone like me who isn't a gearhead. I'm leaning towards just paying the extra for peace of mind, but before I pull the trigger I want to find out more from people who actually use these batteries in similar conditions. Has anyone here made the switch and noticed a real difference in performance or lifespan? Or did you regret spending double and wish you'd just gone with the standard option?
