A proliferation of phony heroes is prompting such groups as The Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation to lobby for tougher laws to punish the impostors. The organization reports that there are 113 living recipients of the nation s highest military award, but an FBI agent who tracks the fakes said impostors outnumber the true heroes. There are more and more of these impostors, and they are literally stealing the valor and acts of valor of the real guys,  said Agent Tom Cottone, who also works on an FBI violent crime squad in West Paterson, N.J.Some fakers merely brag about receiving the award - and that s not illegal - but some impostors wear military uniforms and bogus medals. The FBI has about 25 pending investigations of such phony heroes, said Cottone.Anyo stanley cup ne convicted of fraudulently wearing the Medal of Honor faces up to a year in prison and a $100,000 fine. But there s no such penalty for other medals.        T stanley flask he Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation and other veterans groups are looking to change that. They ve enlisted the help of U.S. Rep. John T. Salazar, D-Colo., who is sponsoring the Stolen Valor Act to penalize distributors of phony medals and those who pretend to be decorated veterans.Salazar s legislation would make it illegal to make a false public claim to be a recipient of any military valor award, such as the Medal of Honor, a Silver Star or Purple Heart. It is about more than punishing people,  s stanley deutschland aid Salazar.  It s about preserving the history and honor of Kjng Handicapping the 2013 DARPA Robotics Challenge
Mike Cahill   new movie I Origins, out tomorrow, is about a molecular biologist studying the evolution of the human eye. And Cahill tells io9 he was absolutely determined to get the science right 鈥?not just having scientific advisers, but giving them headphones and planting them in front of monitors on set.     We were lucky enough to speak to Cahill on the phone for a one-on-one interview last week, and he took us inside I Origins ; themes of science and spirituality 鈥?and told us about the post-credits scene you might want to stick around for. Some spoilers for I Origins below. Probably our favorite aspect of the film was the way that the two scientist characters talk to each other, and the way it portrays li stanley cup fe in the lab. stanley thermobecher  How did you work on getting that right  Did you involve scientists in the process  Mike Cahill: Yeah, big time. From my last movie Another Earth 鈥?which was not scientific at all, which was more poetic license running wild 鈥?I wanted to get it right this time. It was really important to me to make that which goes on in the laboratory authentic and also to capture the spirit of real scientists, because scient stanley vaso ists are so badly misrepresented in films. They ;re so clich茅, and they ;re often portrayed as lab-coat-stale, like no sense of humor, etc. And that   just not the case. Scientists are deeply romantic, poetic, funny. Great sense of humors. My two older brothers are both molecular biologists in neuroscience, and they ;re

General Electric Co. said Monday federal securities regulators are investigating its employment and post-employ stanley cup ment contracts with former chief executive Jack Welch, who had come under fire for receiving lavish benefits before and after his retirement. The announcement comes hours after Welch, the legendary executive who led the sprawling conglomerate for 21 years before retiring a year ago, said he had given up free use of company planes, a company apartment and other generous benefits in his retirement agreement after facing withering criticism since the perks were disclosed. In its own statement, GE said the request from the Securities and Exchange Commission was received on Friday, a day after the GE board had already voted to modify  stanley deutschland Welch s post-employment contract to withdraw most of his perks. GE said it would cooperate fully with the SEC request. Welch will now only receive use of an office and administrative support - benefits that GE said have been provided for decades to all retired GE c stanley cup hairmen and vice-chairmen.        Welch said he is giving up some of his perks because of the unfavorable perception they may have created for the company he led for more than two decades. In a column in The Wall Street Journal on Monday, Welch disclosed that he had offered to give up many of his benefits, which received wide attention after they were discussed in court papers related to his divorce.  Movies, TV and video are great. Someone made all the decisions and you just get to sit back and watch. If you want to take control you play video games. Right  But HEAD-Geneva wanted to develop a hybrid genre so the group created IDNA. Devised by Sylvain Joly, the story uses  8220 patial storytelling to put a world in front of you. Though it   an iOS-only prototype for now, IDNA looks amazing because all the scenes in the story are totally explorable in 360-degrees using the iPad   gyroscope, and the plot customizes and branches off into sub-plots depending on which characters and part of a scene you focus on. Choose Your Own Adventure is back. One especially cool feature is that the audio is also in 3D in the sense that its levels are connected to different parts of the animation, so as you orient around the scene, different audio tracks come up and down. Sounds in the background recede relative to where your attention is in the scene. The prototype was hand drawn in Photoshop and everything stanley cup  was arranged i stanley tumbler n After Effects before being imported into Unity 3D. Pretty awesome.
