Parents of students at Acton High School intend to protest outside the school on Friday after a girl was suspended following a conflict about abortion.They say Halton District School Board staff suspended the girl for bullying.It is alleged that two students were talking about abortion at school and discussed a hypothetical situation in which one would be faced with the choice of keeping a baby if it were known to have special needs. Toronto is taking steps to prevent people who use drugs from dying of an overdose in its shelters.Starting this month, the City will begin implementing a new multi-pronged strategy that will see almost $8 million in funding directed to organizations and programs that provide harm reduction and overdose prevention services.Known as the Integrated Prevention and Harm Reduction Initiative iPHARE , it aims to help advance the citys Overdose Action Plan along with the recommendations approved by the Board of Health at its Nov. 16, 2020 meeting as well as those of Mary-Anne Bedard, general manager of Torontos Shelter, Support and Housing Administration SSHA .
