A lot of the times, you re almost defined by that bad choice and you are always fighting for people to look at you as equal,  she said.While she was incarcerated Demerath said, her mother would send her a Christmas card every year and  stanley mugs for her, that card  meant the world. But while inside Demerath noticed so many women like her having to go without even a little holiday cheer, so after her release she decided to help change that.Beginning in 2018, Demerath started Cards Behind Bars to help incarcerated women feel seen around the holidays. This includes repairing all three domes, rebuilding just one, or demolishing them all together and building a new development. He says the one thing residents who live near the Domes have agreed on, is that Mitchell Park as a whole needs attention,  Its more than just the Domes. Its the park. Its Mitchell Park, and you have a lagoon there it s polluted, it s decrepit, it s becoming a cesspool, you have basketball courts that are falling in disrepair. In 2016, concrete the size of tennis balls was falling inside from as high as 80 feet. Wire mesh wrapping has been the temporary fix.
