Theyve been working on it for more than 50 years. We really are unique in the sense of the size of our site and the degree of preservation, Dr. Parno said. All of this land around us was converted into agriculture and that act of farming and plowing, and not building high-rises and piers and big settlements, really preserved a lot of that archeology in place.
