Xitf $2.3M For False Rape Convictions
It was the worst one-day fall on Wall Street since those dark days of 2008. It was driven by fear of another recession and worry over whether Spain or Italy will have to be stanley cup  bailed out.The Dow Jones industrial average dropped 512 points or just over 4.3 percent Thursday. But look at the longer trend. Just last April, the Dow hit this year s high at 12,810. Since then, it s fallen 1,427 points. Today s decline wiped out all of the gains the Dow had made for 2011. In the broader market, the NASDAQ and the SP were both off today either side of 5 percent. CBS News correspondent Rebecca Jarvis takes a look at what happened. A stock sell-off that started in Europe spread to the U.S. markets today.         Stocks have been under severe pressure for more than a week. The Dow and SP 500 have both dropped more than 10 percent from their highs earlier this year. That puts U.S. stocks solidly into market correction territory. Veteran floor trader Art Cashin warns more trouble is brewing across the Atlantic as skittish European banks and investors look to  stanley becher cash out of American companies.Dow plunges 513 points; Worst fall since 2008             There s a old saying on Wall Street,  he said,  that when you can t sell what you want to sell, you se stanley cup ll whatever you can, including your grandmother s necklace.  So I think some of the people in Europe are having a difficult time raising the kind of capital they were hoping to get and looking at whatever assets in the U.S. and selling here.  Art installation  Trick photography  Nope, just a little restoration project going on at Utah   Provo Temple, which was badly damaged in a fire in 2010. Thankfully, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints  LDS  is salvaging the 112-year-old building with a little arch stanley cup itectural lev stanley kubek itation.     Engineers gutted the ruined interior, and lifted the structure onto scaffolding about 40 feet in the air in order to save the facade and add a two-story basement below. The old church didn ;t have to be moved at all. It appears to be floating, but there   no religious trickery going on鈥攋ust a pretty amazing feat of engineer stanley website ing.   Al Qaeda stanley tumbler  in the Islamic Maghreb  Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb called on Moroccans to retaliate for the beating of a woman by a policeman outside the prison of Okkashah. Pictures of th botella stanley e beating had been published in a  Moroccan newspaper and angered members of militant Islamist Internet forums. The group seems to use the incident to mobilize Moroccans against the government and urged the youths to pick the arms and join the ranks of the militants.                                                                       ponent--type-recirculation .item:nth-child 5          display: none;             inline-recirc-item--id-cfaa9772-8c88-11e2-b06b-024c619f5c3d,  right-rail-recirc-item--id-cfaa9772-8c88-11e2-b06b-024c619f5c3d        stanley cup   display: none;             inline-recirc-item--id-cfaa9772-8c88-11e2-b06b-024c619f5c3d ~ .item:nth-child 5          display: block;       Gnpy U.N.: Afghan Violence Up Sharply In 2007
For a period of 15 days, a cooled copper mass enclosed in a cryostat container may very well have been the coldest object in the Universe. At -273.144 degrees Celsius, it nearly achieved absolute zero. The technique, which resulted a world record, could produce important new insights into exotic particle physics.     Prior to this, no experiment on Earth has ever cooled a similar mass or volume to temperatures this low. Remarkably, the conditions created in the lab are not thought to appear anywhere in nature. So, unless some vaso stanley   stanley mugs extraterrestrial civilization was conducting a similar experiment, it was the coldest object in the Universe for stanley becher  over two weeks. The copper mass, which weighed 880 pounds  400 kg , was brought to an achingly low temperature of 6 milliKelvins, or -273.144 degrees Celsius. That   crazy if you think about it; absolute zero  or 0 Kelvin  is only a mere 0.006 degrees away at -273.15 C. The feat happened at the Cryogenic Underground Observatory for Rare Events  CUORE , a particle physics lab in Italy where an international group of scientists are working, including those from the U.S., China, Spain, and France. The copper was encased in a cryostat container, which according to the researchers is the only one of its kind in the world, not only in terms of its dimensions, extreme temperatures and cooling power, but also for the selective materials and for the building techniques that both guarantee very low levels of radioactivity.
