CBS/AP  More anecdotal evidence emerged Wednesday calling into question the academic prowess of the man accused of shooting midnight moviegoers in a deadly rampage at a Denver-area theater, with a former researcher who James Holmes listed as his mentor calling him a  mediocre  st stanley website udent. That reputation adds to a still-incomplete portrait of Holmes, the 24-year-old grad-school dropout being held in isolation while awaiting charges stemming from Friday s shooting that left 12 people dead and 58 others injured in Aurora, Colo.As investigators start to examine Holmes  computer, authorities are still uncertain about the possible motive behind the shooting. Weeks before the massacre, Holmes failed part of his first-year exam and dropped out from graduate school at the University of Colorado-Denver, CBS News correspondent Anna Werner reports. Per Harvard University   Self-Organizing Systems Research Group, where researchers Mike Rubenstein, Alejandro Cornejo and Radhika Nagpal have been designing and refining the Kilobot model for the last several years: In current robotics research there is a vast body of work on algorithms and control methods for groups of decentralized cooperating r stanley becher obots, called a swarm or collective. These algorithms are generally meant to control collectives of hundreds or even thousands of robots; however, for reasons of cost, time, or complexity, they are generally validated in simulation only, or on a group of a few 10s of robots. To address this issue, we designed the Kilobot, a low-cost robot designed to make testing collective algorithms on hundreds or thousands  kilosstanley cup nz  8221;  of robots accessible to robotics researchers. Each robot has the basic capabilities required for a swarm robot, but is made with low-cost parts, and is mostly assembled by an automated process. In the latest issue of Science, Rubenstein and his colleagues report the most impressive demonstration of robotic swarm activity to date: A group of 1,024 Kilobots twitching, scuttling, and jostling their way into a variety of stanley drinking cup  two-dimensional shapes  鈥?two-dimensional in the sense that the shap
