The 6-year-old daughter of a wealthy couple who left New York after the Sept. 11 terror attack was found safe at a shopping mall on Friday, 24 hours after being abducted from the front yard of her home, a family friend said.Anna Cardelfe was dropped off Friday morning at Monmouth Mall where security workers recognized her and called police. She was reunited with her family at a police station. She is in good spirits. She is unharmed, said Robert Honecker, first assistant Monmouth County prosecutor. Police were still searching for her abductor.The girl had been playing with a sibling and friends at 11:45 a.m. Thursday when a man drove up and enticed the girl into his car by showing her an unknown object, Honecker said. The abductor then pulled the girl inside and drove off. A 4-year-old friend described the kidnapper as a white man in his 30s. He said the note contained demands but that neither the family nor authorities met any of them. He did not give details. Hours after the kidnapping, the family had made a plea for her release.
