 Three times Academy Award nominee Magnolia is finding niche audiences as it op stanley cup ens up across international territories, despite its three-hour plus running time. Its most successful release to date is surprisingly in Japan where the New Line Cinema picture has attracted $5m at the box office in two weeks. In the UK, distributor Entertainment cracked the congested release market with a one-screen platform opening at the UCI Empire in Leicester Square, London.  In its first three days, Paul Thomas Anderson s follow-up to Boogie Nights grossed $58,000. Also opening over the weekend in Italy, Magnolia pulled in $521,612 from 167 screens for distributor Medusa.  After three weeks in France, the Metropolitan Film release has attracted more than 200,000 cinema-goers for a box office total of $1.3m.
