I've been thinking about upgrading my gaming setup for a while now, and I finally took the plunge last week. The difference is honestly night and day - games I thought were running fine are actually so much smoother now. My only regret is not doing it sooner because I've been missing out on how good these newer graphics cards really are. If anyone else is on the fence about upgrading, I'd say just go for it if your current stuff is a few years old. The investment pays off way faster than you'd think.
