 Brampton residents will only be looking at 1.1 per cent property tax hike this year after Brampton council passed the 2019 budget with a freeze on the citys portion of the annual levy at a special meeting on March 27.The original proposed budget tabled in February called for 0.8 per cent increase by the city in 2019. That would have translated to a 1.1 per cent increase from the region, 0.3 increase from the city and zero per cent on the school po stanley flask rtion of the tab for a total of a 1.4 per cent harmonized tax hike.However, through their budget deliberations, council and city staff were able to get the city portion of that proposed number down to zero.
