Last month, I decided to modernize my 10-year-old home sauna by replacing the old generic heater with a Harvia Vega Compact model from
harviaheater.ca. The difference in build quality was obvious right away — stainless steel finish, intuitive controls, and even heat distribution. I installed it in my basement sauna with help from a local electrician.
Now that it’s up and running, I’ve noticed how quickly it heats up compared to my old one. The temperature reaches 90°C in under 25 minutes, and the steam feels smoother, not scorching. However, I’m still learning how to balance humidity and temperature to get that “Finnish sauna” feel. I’ve experimented with stone arrangements and occasional water splashes, but it’s still not quite perfect.
Has anyone else upgraded to a Harvia electric heater recently? What tips do you have for maintaining ideal humidity levels or extending stone life? I’d love to fine-tune my setup for the best experience.
