 The South Fletcher   Sportsplex in Brampton has a new name.During a ceremony on Tuesday  Sept. 14 , the city officially changed the facilitys name to the Susan Fennell Sportsplex in honour of the Bramptons former and longest-serving ma stanley cups yor. Being mayor of this city w stanley mug as such a privilege,  Fennell told the crowd of about 5 stanley cup 0 people attending the event, including family, friends and dignitaries.  I want to thank everyone for being here today and joining my family for such a special and unique occasion.                ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW                                        Fennell served as mayor for four terms between 2000 and 2014 and the sportsplex now bearing her name was among the many projects completed across the city during her tenure. It is a great honour to have my name associated with one of the first major projects I was involved with. The sportsplex was originally planned to be a traditional recreation centre; however, I advocated for significant upgrades to the number of rinks and other facilities that became a model for future projects,  Fennell said in statement following councils vote to rename the facility in December 2020.        ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW
