 Wellingtons top police officer is playing down the significance of a recent vandalism spike, saying the trend is toward lower crime in the Town of Erin.Insp. Scott Lawson, Wellington County OPP Detachment Commander, said his officers have spent 8,000 hours in Erin this year to the end of July. Significant resources are committed to the Town of Erin,  he told town council on Sept. 5, providing an update on Erin crime statistics.  We are extremely proactive in schools, community policing and working with businesses 鈥?not just a reactionary response.                ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW                                        He said the mischief problem in Erin is  not a lot different from other communities.
