The difference between the two statements released Wednesday by OpenAI and the Los Alamos lab is pretty striking. OpenAI   statement tries to paint the partnership as simply a study on how AI can be used safely by scientists in laboratory settings to advance bioscientific research. And yet the Los Alamos lab puts much more emphasis on the fact tha stanley water jug t previous research found that ChatGPT-4 provided a mild uplift in providing information that could lead to the creation of biological threats. Much of the public discussion around threats posed by AI has centered around the creation of a self-aware entity that could conceivably develop a mind of its own and harm humanity in some way. Some worry that achieving AGI鈥攁dvanced general intelligence, where the AI can perform advanced reasoning and logic rather than acting as a fancy auto-complete word generator鈥攎ay lead to a Skynet-style situation. And while many AI boo stanley cup ster stanley botella s like Elon Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman have leaned into this characterization, it appears the more urgent threat to address is making sure people dont use tools like ChatGPT to create bioweapons. AI-enabled biological threats could pose a significant risk, but existing work has not assessed how multimodal, frontier models could lower the barrier of entry for non-experts to create a biological threat, Los Alamos lab said in a statement published on its website.  Mobile security firm Appthority disclosed the leaks this week, pinning the blame on app developers who have failed to properly authenticate to the Google Firebase cloud database. Firebase is a mobile and web application platform acquired by Google in 2014. The platform is intended to make app development easier by doing much of the  heavy lifting  for coders.     More than 3,000 apps鈥攎ost on Android, but at least 600 on iOS鈥攁re saving data to misconfigured Firebase databases exposed online, the researchers said. Examples of exposed data provided by Appthority include substantially sensitive information, such as financial data, employee medical records,  plaintext passwords from over 150 corporate domains,  infrast stanley cup ructure cloud credentials, secret access keys to Amazon cloud servers, and  more than 40 server addresses with root plaintext passwords.  Per Appthority, a staggering amount of data is exposed: roughly four million health-related records, including prescription details; 25 million GPS location records; 50 thousand financial records, including banking, payment and Bitcoin transactions; and 4.5 million Facebook, LinkedIn, Firebase, and corporate data store user tokens. Needless to say, i stanley thermos n the wrong hands, this wealth of confidential data poses a serious threat to companies and consumers alike, be  stanley cup it via network infiltration or the theft of personal identity or proprietary corporate information.  This failure by developers to properly secure their Google Firebase databa
