The trend is being observed across North America however in Halton there has been a particularly large amount of thefts in Milton and Halton Hills.A total of 29 catalytic converters have been reported stolen from March 1 to April 12 in Milton and Halton Hills. ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW Catalytic converters have precious metals inside them that have increased in value recently.A significant portion of these thefts are occurring on weekends and almost all of them occur overnight. Police say thieves are targeting vehicles parked in quiet industrial lots and large apartment buildings. It can take a thief as little as 60 seconds to remove a vehicles catalytic converter.
